Who can order a certified copy

Missouri vital records are not open to the general public. State law only allows a certified copy to be issued to a person with a direct and tangible interest in the record, such as the registrant, a family member, a guardian or an official representative.

Processing time: Mail-in requests to Jefferson City can be processed within approximately 4-8 weeks, depending on volume.

County and local offices: Fees for copies are collected by the local agency providing the document, and Missouri says fees for birth and death records are the same as those charged by the Bureau of Vital Records.
